- Implement the CEO’s thought leadership platform on top industry/business/policy priorities working closely across Corporate Affairs and office of the CEO.
- Develop speeches, talking points, and scripts for the CEO.
- Create a robust platform of op-eds and thought leadership pieces for the CEO.
- Work closely with content experts from across the company including, policy, investor relations, media relations, public affairs, R&D, Global Product Development, and commercial leaders to develop strategies for educating stakeholders on Pfizer’s strategy.
- Work closely with the CEO’s social media strategist and members of the office of the CEO.
- Assume full leadership and responsibility for the development and delivery of the company’s Annual Report.
- Oversee and direct an external agency in the concept development, creation, approval, and delivery of the company’s Annual Report.
- Assume full accountability for delivering the Annual Report on time and on budget.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 15+ years of public relations/public affairs experience in a government, corporate environment, or highly regulated industry.
- Strong executive presence; ability to work with the CEO as a thought partner/provide counsel to him and other senior executives.
- Experience working on policy and legislative issues.
- Experience identifying and managing internal and external communications resources.
- Excellent writing skills and track record of successful executive speech writing.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering communications strategies and plans in a large, complex global organization.
- Must be a strong leader and analytical thinker who is able to create and drive adoption of simple processes.
- Must be able to lead cross-functional teams.
- Strong writer who can work under tight deadlines on short notice in a rapidly changing environment.
- Strong executive/leadership communications experience.
- Confident, direct counselor with strong listening and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to make connections across functions, brands, and teams to secure information, analyze and develop a strategy.
- Ability to create alignment across the organization for communications processes, including teaching and working with teams.
- Ability to work with and direct external communications agencies.
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Master’s degree a plus.
- Ability to lead by influence and collaborate with critical stakeholders.

Role Summary:
The Senior Director, Executive Communications reports to the Vice President, Executive, Digital and Policy Communications. S/he is the lead writer for the Chairman and CEO. The SD will develop and implement thought leadership platforms including communications strategies and speeches for the CEO, and will have the primary responsibility on all of the CEO’s internal and external communications for business, financial and policy-related stakeholders.
This individual will play an important role in supporting the CEO's efforts to elevate the awareness and understanding of Pfizer’s purpose, strategy and goals with various external stakeholders.
This individual will also identify and oversee prominent external engagements globally and the have accountability and oversight for the development and delivery of the company’s Annual Report.
The SD will be responsible for maintaining a list of upcoming events and for preparing the CEO for public and internal speaking opportunities. S/he will also write op-eds, occasional social media posts and other collateral for the CEO.
