      Position Purpose:
      Provide overall Transportation and Logistics Functional and Operational Leadership and Support to Veolia Environmental Solutions and Services (VESS). The position oversees the development and implementation of policy and procedures, end user systems and tools, optimization of transportation operations, and management of transportation operating models to ensure the needs of the business and customers are adequately met. Establishes performance goals, implements improvement initiatives/projects and works in coordination with VESS Branch Operations to achieve logistics optimization, efficiency improvement, and cost control.

      Primary Duties/responsibilities:

      • Identify and Implement improvement initiatives and projects to optimize logistics and improve efficiency across the ESS business to achieve organizational goals.
      • Expand in-flight and/or newly identified initiatives/projects such as internalization, contract maintenance and fuel rebates and sourcing.
      • Prepare and launch Sourcing work including but not limited to development of RFP, Bidding, Negotiation, Awarding and Performance Monitoring to manage costs of ESS Transportation without affecting the quality of service.
      • Develop business plans and work collaboratively with the corporate and branch teams for expansion of Electron Logging Devices (ELD) Compliance, Freight Pay and Audit (FP&A), and Internalization program success.
      • Review Contract Maintenance pilot results and expand the program based on findings.
      • Ensure implementation and compliance of Element Fleet Mgmt system across ESS by closely working with transportation managers.
      • Work closely with Procurement, Operations and Digital Business and Technology Team (DB&T) Team to implement Transportation Management Software (TMS) for internal and external logics to optimize T&L across ESS.
      • Establish a Control Tower subsequent to TMS implementation to have coast-to-coast responsibility for ensuring rates on file (e.g. $/Mile inter/intra-state) for pop-up special projects as well as identifying when and where to utilize Veolia assets vs. 3rd party carriers and build a team accordingly based on industry expertise in Brokerage, Bulk Transportation Operations and TMS.
      • Support T&D Supply Chain Lead to implement rail as a service initiative to further optimize waste routing and logistics and also support in disposal pricing reviews and negotiations.
      • Support team in maintaining Top Tier 3rd Party relationships to ensure service, capacity, and cost control requirements of the business are achieved in the ESS T&D Supply Chain and also support any special projects or transportation M&A integration work on as needed basis.
      • Advise and recommend policy development and changes to effectively manage risks to the business.
      • Overall support the development and implementation of Fleet Asset Mgmt and Replacement Strategy for ESS.

      Work Environment:
      Individuals would work in an office environment with significant travel required spending time with Key Suppliers, VESS Branch Operations, and VNA Corporate.

      Qualifications

      Education / Experience / Background:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, or related fields.
      • Minimum 15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management/Sourcing, Transportation and Logistics, and Hazardous Waste Management/ RCRA and DOT regulations and Operation

      Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

      • Hazardous Waste Industry knowledge along with an understanding of general waste types and appropriate technologies for disposal and recycling. Operational knowledge of all modes of transportation including trucking, rail, and ocean transport. Basic understanding and familiarity with Legal Contracts/ Agreements.
      • Leadership, Business planning, Strategic Sourcing, Organizational ability to manage multiple projects / initiatives. Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Proficiency with Microsoft office and Google platform. Financial analysis for ROI. Ability to self-direct.
      • Strategic negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills.

      Required Certification / Licenses / Training:

      • Annual OSHA, DOT, and RCRA refresher training.
