      The Position

      This position works in support of the Novo Nordisk Inc. Ethics & Compliance Program. This position will serve as the Ethics & Compliance Business Partner for one or more specific customer groups (e.g. BioPharm Business Unit, Diabetes field sales) and works collaboratively with the business to identify and mitigate risk, evaluate and operationalize tactics and lead implementation of mitigation plans. This position may also work on detection and mitigation activities in support of the Ethics & Compliance Program. This position develops partnerships and strategies to promote the NNI Code of Conduct, Novo Nordisk Way and ensure a culture committed to compliance. Position will support the Ethics & Compliance training function in development of a comprehensive Ethics & Compliance training plan and will be responsible for delivery of live training presentations to respective customer group(s).

      Relationships

      This position reports to the Sr. Director of Ethics & Compliance Business Partners & Privacy or an Associate Director, Ethics & Compliance Business Partner. This position will serve as an Ethics & Compliance Business Partner for a one or more customer groups within Novo Nordisk. Works closely with in house legal counsel, global ethics & compliance colleagues, senior leaders in other departments and is a member of relevant cross functional teams across NNI.

      Essential Functions

      • Supports the Senior Director, Business Partners & Privacy with the execution of the Ethics & Compliance program, raising awareness of the program and fostering accountability for compliance throughout the organization
      • Actively works to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential ethics and compliance risks to the organization
      • Delivers ethics & compliance training and presentations for audiences at all levels of the organization
      • Responsible for ensuring that Ethics & Compliance senior management is informed of ethics & compliance issues in a timely manner while encouraging the flow of information between colleagues and line of business
      • Provides strategic direction and oversees activities related to ethics and compliance for specific customer groups to ensure compliance principles are considered when making critical business decisions while understanding local and global impact
      • Supports strategic direction by working closely with dedicated customer groups on compliance awareness and achievement of ethics & compliance objectives
      • Advises business units and functional area management regarding business initiatives that include interaction between company employees and healthcare practitioners and regarding compliance obligations, risks, violations, resolution, investigations, and corrective actions. Communicates planned business activities to relevant Ethics & Compliance Department members
      • As requested, participates in detection and mitigation focused ethics and compliance activities such as monitoring, auditing and investigations in support of Ethics & Compliance Departmental needs
      • Contributes to the preparation of government reporting requirements as applicable
      • Ensures that Ethics & Compliance leadership and other NNI senior management are informed of potential issues related to meeting ethics & compliance program standards
      • Participates in the assessment of potential risks and development and execution of mitigation plans
      • Documents all activities as appropriate in accordance with Departmental expectations
      • Maintain current understanding of laws and regulations applicable to pharmaceutical compliance, along with recent trends and changes; assist with interpretation of state and federal law from a compliance perspective
      • Maintains effective lines of communication to report potential incidents of non-compliance
      • Partners with legal counterparts to review and approve business processes, provide informed guidance, with specific focus on operational better practices
      • Serve as main point of contact for assigned LoB providing updates on Ethics & Compliance Program activities, results and trends
      • Serves as Ethics & Compliance lead on various ethics & compliance-related committees and working groups. Involved in key business meetings and decisions providing oversight and guidance to mitigate healthcare compliance risks
      • Maintains understanding of laws and regulations, enforcement actions and evolving practices relevant to pharmaceutical compliance and proposes updates to compliance program, as appropriate. Participates in industry associations and events as appropriate to raise the profile of the compliance program and the company

      Physical Requirements

      10-20% overnight travel required.

      Qualifications

      • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
      • A minimum of 8 years combined pharmaceutical, legal, regulatory, and compliance experience required OR a minimum of 6 years experience required if accompanied by an advanced degree or certificate (e.g. MBA, JD, PMP)
      • Experience working under a CIA is preferred
      • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization
      • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion meeting internal and external deliverables with high degree of accuracy
      • Communicates effectively with different audiences and in different contexts
      • The ability to think objectively and use sound reasoning principles
      • Uncompromising ethics and high standard of personal integrity
      • The ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision Demonstrated ability to influence and move key business stakeholders toward a common goal
      • Demonstrated knowledge and clear understanding of the Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act, FDA rules and regulations regarding the promotion of pharmaceuticals, corporate integrity agreements and other prosecution agreements with other pharmaceutical companies, PhRMA code and other relevant federal and state aggregate spend reporting requirements, and the current activities and developments involving pharmaceutical sales and marketing
      • Expertise in NNI policies and procedures or prior compliance-related experience
      • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
      • Problem solving skills and solutions-oriented thinking
      • Proven track record of producing results
