- Leads the team responsible for auditing and updating title metadata (keywords, BISAC codes, descriptions, etc.) for new and backlist titles.
- Develop and implement SEO best practices across online retail product pages to improve rankings and visibility.
- Analyze performance metrics related to discoverability and visibility (e.g., Amazon rankings, Google Analytics, etc.) to identify discoverability gaps and opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, marketing, and sales to integrate metadata strategy into broader content and promotional planning.
- Create guidelines, documentation, and training resources to ensure metadata and SEO best practices are shared across the organization.
- Oversee audits of existing metadata and product pages across online retailers to improve long-term performance and catalog discoverability.
- Monitor industry trends in SEO and metadata optimization; suggest process improvements and innovations.
- Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to craft compelling, keyword-rich copy for online listings.
- Collaborate with consumer marketing teams to ensure product pages for advertised or promoted titles are fully optimized for sales conversion.
- 5-7 yearsu2019 experience in book publishing, digital marketing, or metadata management with a focus on discoverability and e-commerce.
- Proven experience managing metadata strategy at scale, ideally within a trade, academic, or educational publishing environment.
- Deep understanding of SEO, keyword research, and performance optimization in the context of digital content and retail.
- Familiarity with ONIX metadata standards and major publishing platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with fluency in tools such as Excel, Google Analytics, Search Console, and keyword planning platforms.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
- Passion for books and an understanding of genre-specific reader behavior and search intent.
- Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.
- Proven ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail.
