Manages quality staff to achieve strategic goals and imperatives.
Manages clinical quality programs and initiatives, providing strategic direction in collaboration with internal resources, consultants, medical and nursing staff, and medical and administrative leadership.
Oversee regulatory and accreditation requirements (i.e. CMS, CDPH, TJC, etc.) and local safety adherence for the assigned domain and respective locations.
Responsible for goal setting/vision for the SHC Radiation Oncology Quality Program, aligning with our SoM physics safety program and adhering to the stringent Radiation Safety requirements of the CDPH
Provide strategy and thought in developing and implementing controls to monitor and manage the quality program around early adoption and cutting edge technology in radiation oncology.
Provide quality expertise as a key member for the leadership team for their assigned domain to help develop, shape the mission/vision.
Establish and oversee monitoring activity related to key bodies of work: policy/procedure review, standard work, quality indicators, safety events, improvement activity, etc.
Responsible for identifying and prioritizing quality initiatives from start to completion and integration into operations.
Performs supervisory functions for the assigned program by interviewing and recommending or hiring new staff members; providing or arranging for training of staff; evaluating performance; and recommending or initiating personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.
Works to develop staff and facilitate growth within the department to recruit and retain highly engaged employees.
Collaborate with external departments (infection prevention, pharmacy, radiology, health physics, etc.) and work in multidisciplinary teams to create a culture of safety in order to promote the sharing of ideas and escalation of gaps in processes.
Leads performance improvement projects within their domain and teaches techniques and analytic approaches to staff.
Partners with medical staff and the School of Medicine to facilitate innovation and research from QI projects to elevate Stanford Health Care via publications, posters, and press around clinical improvement initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a work-related field is required
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a work-related field is preferred
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience within a large acute care hospital or health care system in three or more of the following areas:
- Patient Safety;
- Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement;
- Value-Based Care;
- Regulatory, Accreditation and Licensing;
- Clinical Experience, such as nursing/pharmacy or other clinical backgroundKnowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of management and supervision.
Knowledge of clinical care processes in a large academic hospital.
Knowledge of accreditation, regulatory, licensing and other standards, requirements, and guidelines applicable to hospitals, specifically, Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, and California Business & Professions code, California Health and Safety Code, California Medical Association-Institute for Medical Quality, National Committee on Quality Assurance.
Knowledge of and ability to apply multiple performance improvement methodologies and tools to projects (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, SPC etc.)
Knowledge of the principles and practices of value-based decision-making, health care payment/reimbursement, high-value care and delivery models.
Knowledge of innovative clinical research trends, developments and research in the medical field and health care systems.
Knowledge of advanced quantitative skills and ability to use statistics to evaluate and interpret data, summarize results and make recommendations.
Ability to effectively communicate and present complex information to broad audiences through presentations and lead group discussions.
Ability to stay abreast of externally reported quality measures including but not limited to CMS, NHSN, and AHRQ
Proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (CSSBB) preferred .

A Brief Overview
This senior manager level position is directly responsible for managing and developing a team of staff to optimize the quality of clinical care services and processes at Stanford Health Care. The Senior Manager plans, organizes, evaluates, and executes on clinical improvement initiatives across the service line, including Stanford Health Care Radiation Oncology locations and all joint venture locations, in collaboration with executive leadership, medical and nursing staff, clinic operations, clinical analytics and information technology departments to improve quality care across Stanford Health Care. This position works directly with medical staff, service line leadership and font-line providers to develop and manage the quality program, identifies continuous quality improvement opportunities, and sets strategic initiatives with respective quality councils.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $76.90 - $101.91 per hourThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
