      General Summary/Overview:

      Reporting to the Senior Director of Website Strategy on the Digital Marketing team (within the broader Marketing organization), the Senior Manager, UX/UI Design & Testing Engineer oversees all aspects of UX/UI design and implementation for MGB public-facing, pre-authenticated web experiences. This role will partner closely with Brand, Web Strategy, Digital Marketing & Marketing colleagues, as well as external agencies, to create digital solutions to meet business needs. All work output should connect strongly with our system’s brand ambitions and goals of facilitating access to health care services and making it easier for a wide-range of external audiences – including patients, researchers, medical students, job seekers and others – to learn about and interact with Mass General Brigham. While all constituents are important, a focus is on patients-first. Key initiatives for this role will be to develop a UX governance framework, creation of a digital design system and pattern library and launch of UX testing capability.

      Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Lead the creation and proposal of UX/UI designs for MGB digital experiences that meet patient and business needs, align with UX strategy and are technically feasible.
      • Partner closely with MGB Brand Team to translate corporate brand styles, patterns and palette into appropriate digital interface design patterns.
      • Keep abreast of modern UX/UI best practices to that MGB’s digital presences meet current user experience expectations and standards.
      • Utilize Human-Centered Design, Outcome Driven Innovation (ODI) and similar processes to guide the creation of UI designs.
      • Participate in initial exploration processes to identify user needs and opportunities to satisfy those needs.
      • Interact directly with users through human-centered design techniques including participation in observational research, interviews, and concept testing to uncover needs, learn about user behavior and explore design concepts.
      • Lead the creation of interactive prototypes for digital experiences.
      • Participate in project definition activities, such as workshops and requirements sessions.
      • Participate in usability testing of prototypes, documenting findings and making design recommendations.
      • Create design specs (user flows, prototypes, user interface design specifications) to communicate concepts and designs to internal Web Development partners.
      • Create, curate and distribute website style guides, manuals and layout documentation.
      • Work with developers to maintain design intent and bring concepts to life.
      • Support creation and maintenance of a library of design elements to ensure reusable, proven and tested patterns are clearly documented and consistently implemented.
      • Create UX/UI governance policies to ensure consistent experiences across digital interfaces.
      • Develop and lead A/B/multivariate testing discipline and upskill Website Strategy colleagues on testing best practices.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s Degree required with 7 + years of UI/UX Design Experience or advanced degree with 5 + years of UI/UX Design Experience.

      • Possess an awareness of design patterns for responsive mobile and web, why they are important, and how and when to use them.
      • Experience designing to Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines.
      • Working knowledge of HTML / CSS / JavaScript / XML.
      • A/B/multivariate testing experience, preferably with Adobe Target.
      • Conceptual understanding of web personalization.
      • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe XD, Figma or other leading visual design and prototyping tools.
      • Experience conducting user testing / user research.
      • Experience creating experience frameworks to structure user research insights – e.g., user journeys, service blueprints, affinity diagrams, value proposition canvas.
      • Experience designing for internationalization and supporting localization.
      • Familiar with applying scalable UI design systems.
      • Work effectively with all levels of the organization.
      • Communicate clearly, in written, verbal and visual forms, being equally facile with technical and non-technical team members.


      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      This role will initially be positioned as an individual contributor.

      Fiscal Responsibility:

      • Project-based and vendor-based budget responsibility
      • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources

      Working Conditions:

      • Work may be completed remotely or in-office.
      • Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites
