- Develop and implement title-specific marketing campaigns each season and ensure that author and publisher objectives are met.
- Work with key stakeholders (author, agent, editorial, sales, publicity, and marketing) during the planning phase to ensure that there are cohesive and strategic marketing plans for all assigned titles.
- Work closely with publicity & marketing to develop comprehensive digital strategies and guidance for our books and authors.
- Collaborate closely with high-profile authors and their teams to implement strategic pre-order and on-sale marketing campaigns utilizing authorsu2019 networks and platforms.
- Oversight and growth of imprint-specific digital platforms including website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
- Coordinate and oversee the production of presentations and marketing materials for seasonal sales conferences.
- Coordinate and oversee the production of marketing graphics including ads, flyers, postcards, bookmarks, and social graphics.
- Collaborate on Hachette corporate marketing initiatives and cross-promotions, including seasonal initiatives and marketing verticals.
- Attend kickoff calls with authors to share campaign plans and provide comprehensive marketing updates before, during, and after publication.
- Manage year-round marketing campaigns for key backlist titles.
- Closely monitor and adhere to departmental budget and overheads.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive marketing experience
- Business book and/or nonfiction marketing experience preferred
- Understanding of effective marketing strategies, especially for business books, and ability to develop creative approaches to achieving marketing goals
- Experience working with high-profile authors or brands
- Experience developing and deploying social media marketing campaigns
- Understanding of the ever-evolving social and digital media landscape
- Results-oriented, motivated, resourceful, and able to meet deadlines independently
- Superb communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience
The Basic Books Group is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager or Assistant Director of Marketing, (depending on experience).
