      About the Role


      We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Senior Producer/Editor to join Rates & Barrels, The Athletic's flagship baseball podcast. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the production process of our podcast, owning the audio and video post-production process, developing engaging rundowns and segment formats, growing audience and community engagement, and ensuring that each episode is of the highest quality. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience producing video and audio podcasts, have working knowledge of YouTube, Discord, and social platforms, and be passionate about baseball, storytelling and digital media.


      Responsibilities

      Show Production:
      • Collaborate with the hosts on all elements of show creative.
      • Assist the entire production process from pre-production planning to final delivery.
      • Manage scheduling, coordination, and logistics to ensure smooth episode execution.


      Editing & Post-Production:
      • Edit episode video and mix audio to produce high-quality content, and publish episodes to our distribution platforms.
      • Ensure consistency in style and sound quality across all segments.


      Content Research & Segment Development:
      • Conduct thorough research to identify compelling topics and trends relevant to our audience, and key stats for our on-air talent.
      • Help to develop innovative segments and series that add value and drive listener engagement.


      Rundown Creation:
      • Collaborate with the R&B team to ensure content is engaging and on-brand.
      • Contribute to episode rundowns that outline segment order, timing, and content flow.


      Digital Media & Social Integration:
      • Identify potential video clips for distribution on YouTube and other social channels.
      • Provide direction and feedback to external social media editors (when applicable)
      • Work closely with the show’s hosts/producers to develop social first content.
      • Manage community building through Discord, YouTube, and other social channels.


      Collaboration & Communication:
      • Coordinate with hosts, guests, and team members to gather content and feedback.
      • Manage deadlines and provide regular updates on production progress.


      Requirements
      • Proven experience in podcast production, video editing, and social media content creation.
      • Proficiency with audio and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
      • Strong research skills and the ability to develop creative content segments.
      • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
      • Familiarity with YouTube platform dynamics and social media best practices.
      • Demonstrated experience creating content that drives audience engagement and growth.
      • Passion and enthusiasm for, and intellectual curiosity about, all things baseball.
      • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

      The annual base salary range for this role is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.


      For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock. Benefits may include medical, dental and vision benefits, Flexible Spending Accounts (F.S.A.s), a company-matching 401(k) plan, paid vacation, paid sick days, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement and professional development programs.
