      I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

      Job Description Summary:

      The Department of Epidemiology at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University is seeking a Senior Research Associate to assist the department in conducting an NIH-funded longitudinal cohort study, the DC Cohort. This study captures clinical information on HIV-infected persons in care in Washington, DC and has been operating since 2009 in partnership with numerous clinical providers in Washington, DC, the DC Department of Health, and the National Institutes of Health. The Senior Research Associate will assist the Principal Investigator and Project Director with the overall operation and management of the study. This experienced researcher carries out research/development activities by using quantitative and qualitative methods to collect, analyze, and report data activities. Using a wide degree of creativity and latitude, the core responsibilities of this position are to make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results, with limited guidance from the Principal Investigator. This position compiles results and prepares technical reports and documentation of outcomes. This role is familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures, and can perform a variety of research tasks. This position typically reports to a project supervisor or project manager and may guide lower-level staff.

      The duties of a Senior Research Associate include:
      • Collaborate with research staff at the DC Cohort sites to field technical and non-technical issues and facilitate resolutions.
      • Assist with new data linkages and DC Cohort sub-studies.
      • Train research staff at DC Cohort sites and certify data entry and procedural compliance.
      • Participate in study data quality activities, including responses to data checks performed by research staff at DC Cohort sites.
      • Perform ad hoc analyses of DC Cohort data.
      • Perform data cuts for DC Cohort projects.
      • Assist with literature reviews and write/edit Cohort manuscripts.
      • Lead regulatory tasks for the DC Cohort study, including all IRB correspondence and applications.
      • Lead meetings as follows: weekly meeting with the GW Biostatistics Center (GW BSC); bi-weekly meeting with the GW IRB; monthly Research Assistant (RA) meetings.
      • Oversee the coordination of presentation materials for the study's quarterly Executive Committee meeting.
      • Provide administrative support to the study's Community Advisory Board (CAB).
      • Lead the drafting and preparation of the twice-a-year patient newsletter that gets distributed to each of the study sites.
      • Supervise undergraduate or graduate students working on special projects for the DC Cohort
      • Complete bi-annual data audits and yearly regulatory/ compliance checks for DC Cohort sites.


      Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Qualified candidates will hold a Master's degree in a related discipline and 3 years of direct experience in the field. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

      $50,741.17 - $80,927.47
