      BASIC FUNCTION:

      Goodwill Industries International manages a shared case management system for our network of members. This system is a SQL Server based architecture. The application has moved to the latest Azure medallion architecture. As our usage has grown, and the architecture more advanced, we have a need for senior SQL Server skills for optimizing our landscape of over 50 databases.

      The Senior SQL Analyst is responsible for querying, validating, and analyzing data within the organization's case management system. This role focuses on SQL-driven data extraction, data quality assurance, and analytical support for operational reporting, compliance, and strategic decision-making. Translate business requirements into technical solutions using MS SQL Server and custom internal programming.
      • Accountable for report design, report optimization using SQL, SSRS, Fabric, and PowerBI for compliance reporting and business specific reports.
      • Evaluate improvements in database design to facilitate complex report generation.
      • As a part of team, complete new implementations, while identifying opportunities for simplification.
      • Responsible for ensuring data integrity and establishing reporting confidence.
      • Obtain strong product expertise and identify business improvements.
      • Technology subject matter expert in system functionality, and business process subject matter expert.

      SPECIFIC DUTIES:

      • Develop and maintain complex SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate grant and case management data.
      • Develop sophisticated Stored Procedures, User-Defined Functions, and Triggers using set-based logic to replace inefficient procedural code.
      • Analyze code written by vendor and write scripts for upload integration functionality.
      • Validate and reconcile data across system environments, releases, and configuration changes.
      • Report generation utilizing SQL queries, SSRS, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
      • Establish and enforce Referential Integrity constraints and implement Row-Level Security (RLS)and data masking where necessary.
      • Support operational, compliance, grant, and leadership reporting requirements.
      • Analyze core case management data domains including demographics, enrollments, services, and outcomes.
      • Investigate data discrepancies and partner with administrators and business users to resolve root causes.
      • Create reusable queries, views, and technical documentation to support standardized reporting.
      • Participate in Code Reviews for the team, establishing Best Practices for SARGable queries and efficient SQL patterns.
      • Assist in the development and maintenance of data standards, field definitions, and data dictionaries.

      RELATIONSHIPS:
      • Internal: Daily contact with GII team members revolving around project and project needs.
      • GII Members: Frequent contact with local Goodwill organizations to help identify project requirements.
      • External: Frequent contact with consultants and suppliers.
      • Government Officials: N/A


      SKILLS NEEDED:
      • Advanced SQL (joins, aggregations, subqueries, CTEs)
      • Data validation and reconciliation techniques


      • Reporting and analytics support
      • Microsoft Excel (advanced functions)
      • Application and system administration
      • Ability to prioritize user support requests.
      • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
      • High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability.
      • Experience with non-profit case management product or project development experience a plus.
      • Established background in testing software or services in partnership with mission leaders, program leaders, and grant managers.
      • Ability to operate in various roles within a cross-functional team of super users, grant managers, case managers, and program directors.
      • 4 or more years' experience with Relational Database Management Systems and hands-on experience writing SQL queries.
      • Strong understanding of relational data models and normalized data structures.
      • Willingness to gain strong technical understanding of the case management system.
      • Excellent analytical skills and data management abilities.
      • Excellent customer service skills.
      • Identify and raise technology or business process improvements.


      EDUCATION:

      Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

      Microsoft SQL Certifications a plus.

      EXPERIENCE:

      4 or more years of experience in application support, system administration, or technical operations.

      Advanced SQL and relational databases (joins, aggregations, subqueries)

      Experience working with case management, human services, or social services data.

      Exposure to data validation, reporting support, or quality assurance activities.

      DECISION MAKING:

      Decisions related to diagnosing problems and implementing corrective action.

      SUPERVISION:

      General - Latitude is given to determine approaches, procedures, and methodologies for accomplishing the work. Receive administrative review. Work is reviewed to assure that it is conceptually sound and meets assignment objectives.

      PHYSICAL EFFORT:

      Medium, lifting 30 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 15 lbs. Walking or standing to a significate degree, involves sitting most of the time. May require long hours at a personal computer.

      EMOTIONAL EFFORT:

      Medium, frequent short deadlines requiring some overtime. Work environment usually hectic with periods of high stress.
