- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and ability to learn office-specific software.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license or access to transportation.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Skill in interpreting policies, procedures and regulations and confidently communicating their significance without hesitation.
- Associate’s degree with coursework in administrative support, business or related field and 3 years of office support experience in the public sector preferably in law enforcement.
- Experience with payroll, staffing and labor contract interpretation.
- Basic knowledge of clerical and law enforcement procedures and practices.

Goodhue County Sheriff's office is hiring a Sheriff’s Administrative Assistant. The position provides confidential, administrative assistance to the Sheriff and Administration/ Command staff. This position plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the Sheriff’s Office which includes patrol, investigations, community engagement, records retention, adult detention center and emergency services. The Sheriff’s Administrative Assistant serves in the capacity of a Press Information Officer (PIO) responsible for the daily release of information and data to the local print and electronic media. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. This position provides administrative support for staffing, personnel and payroll functions.

Salary & Benefits
County employees receive competitive pay and a generous benefit offering. The starting salary for this position is $27.73 - $37.44 per hour depending on experience.
