What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Lead and supervise an assigned Small Business underwriting team, ensuring adherence to guidelines and service standards
- Provide strategic guidance on risk selection, pricing adequacy, and account strategies
- Collaborate with leadership to implement strategies that enhance profitability and underwriting discipline
- Conduct agency visits to improve understanding of underwriting criteria and digital solutions
- Monitor performance and workload of the underwriting team, ensuring compliance with policies and standards
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in an insurance or business-related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of eight years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including small business
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of underwriting, risk analytics, and portfolio management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- CPCU designation or other underwriting-related designations
- Experience with automated underwriting platforms or digital underwriting tools
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and influence others
- Exceptional customer service skills and proven ability to maintain agency relationships
- High degree of business acumen and decision-making ability
