- Lead the end-to-end background screening program, including policy development, process design, and compliance oversight.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on background screening laws (e.g., FCRA, Ban the Box, state/local regulations).
- Manage relationships with third-party background screening vendors, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs), data accuracy, and timely results.
- Collaborate with Legal, HR, Talent Acquisition, and Compliance teams to align screening practices with business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and analyze program metrics, trends, and audit results to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and deliver training and communication materials to internal stakeholders.
- Lead investigations and escalations related to background screening discrepancies or disputes.
- Stay current on industry best practices, emerging risks, and legislative changes impacting background screening.
- 5+ years of experience in background screening, human resources, or compliance
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local background screening laws and regulations.
- Proven experience managing third-party vendors and cross-functional projects.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience in retail, logistics, or large-scale hiring environments.
- Prior leadership experience preferred
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and background screening platforms.
About the Role
The Sr. Manager, Background Screening Program is responsible for leading the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement of the company’s background screening program. This role ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, manages vendor relationships, and partners cross-functionally to support safe and informed hiring decisions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in background screening, risk mitigation, and program management, with a strong focus on operational efficiency and candidate experience.What You'll Do
