Job Description

- Manage daily activities of the Continuous Improvement team; establish performance standards; formulate staff development plans; coach and inspire staff; provide guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegate work assignments considering employee skills and development needs
- Drive Operational Excellence (OpEx) activities within the business to support all technical pillars, including Sector/Segment/CHQ presentations.
- Support and participate in Sector/Segment/CHQ Operations activitiesLead and drive continuous improvement programs throughout the business
- Provide strong leadership input to the Manufacturing strategy, product flow
- Spearhead lean strategies and oversee associated activities
- Demonstrate proficient project management capabilities by effectively guiding direct/indirect reports and collaborating with other stakeholders within the company.
- Share Best Practices across L3 Harris sister companies and ensure L3 Harris Wescam is current and best in class
- Drive Efficiency vision, strategies and initiatives throughout Operations and Business
- Drive and execute 5S+1 program
- Lead the Team through Operational Excellence (OpEx)
- Pillar Lead for Methods and Tools (OpEx)
- Work closely with the Operations management team to develop and execute on Manufacturing Strategies to drive factory improvements and capacity increases
- Daily GEMBA leadership participation, training and maturity
- Lead Kaizen Events
- Ability to travel between the Don Mills and Waterdown sites weekly
- Above the line thinking – positive attitude and great energy
- Ability to Lead Kaizen events
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (ex. PowerPoint)
- Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
- Exceptional application knowledge of Lean principle and tools
- Ability to Train on lean principles
- Ability to lead improvement events
- Ability to develop employees
- Demonstrated leadership ability with influential skills
- Industrial engineering, lean/six sigma training and applied knowledge
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Knowledge of TPS/WCM and asset but not required
- Strong Program Management Skills
- Effective and proven interpersonal and influencing skills
- Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent
- 8- 10 years’ experience in Operations /Quality and Manufacturing Management
- Must have a well-rounded leadership background
- Lean certification and /or Black-Belt trained
- Experience with building and motivating teams
- Experience leading/managing teams
- Brand new, custom-built 330,000 sq ft Engineering and Production facility atop the Waterdown escarpment in Hamilton
- Close to hiking paths along the Bruce trail
- Every other Friday off (paid – with our rare 9/80 work schedule)

As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies.
