Answer questions about the performance of our various product and marketing initiatives, including conversion, retention, cost to acquire, engagement, and others.

Produce reports and reusable dashboards that show the information behind your analyses and recommendations

Act as a stakeholder proxy in the design and development of new self-service data retrieval and exploration tools
-
Educate stakeholders on relevant data literacy issues, to help improve their ability to use data to improve decision making
-
Identify and troubleshoot data pipeline and reporting errors
-
Perform ad-hoc analyses when urgent questions arise
-
Participate in the design and implementation of new data governance policies and controls
-
5-8 years in data analytics and/or business intelligence
-
3-5 years of experience managing the careers of other data professionals, including performance reviews, regular coaching sessions, identifying learning opportunities, etc.

Advanced knowledge of SQL & Python or similar
-
Prior experience working with analytics engineering tooling such as dbt, advanced BI development in tools such as Looker, Superset, or Tableau

Experience designing models for subscriber-focused applications such as acquisition, attribution, uplift, customer LTV

Experience designing, running and analyzing experiments

Strong communication skills, specifically around sharing actionable insights, training colleagues to use data tools and frameworks, and making effective recommendations
-
Best practices for data design and communication and beliefs as to which tools make teams better at those practices together
-
Experience individually driving projects/analyses with a pragmatic, hands-on mentality to drive towards impact
-
Experience partnering with marketing and finance teams and familiarity with related data concepts is highly desirable

Experience at one or more e-commerce or subscription-oriented businesses preferred

Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated, experienced Data Analyst with experience managing technical professionals to lead a group of Data Analysts in The Inquirer’s centralized Data and Insights team. This role is a “player-coach” role, in which the successful candidate would also provide analytical support to our Marketing team. Using their keen product sense and analytical rigor, this person will partner with Marketing, Data, Product, Engineering, and newsroom peers to model and monitor initiatives across the Philadelphia Inquirer’s acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention levers. As a leader, this person will also identify ways to make the team’s work more effective and efficient, so that Analysts can have time to explore our data sets and provide stakeholders with new insights.
