This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work at a Company facility at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.
U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.
- Manages the performance and work initiatives of a team of Leaders and professional employees. Drives multiple functional areas with a focus on continuous improvement and impact on overall Department strategy. Independently makes recommendations and decisions as a representative of the Department with limited oversight.
- Guide and lead Team Members using SWA talent management practices to coach, develop, and engage Employees
- Adhere to Company values and competencies to foster a Culture of inclusion, recognition, and support of a safe work environment
- Invest in Leadership and self-growth through participating in continuous learning and development
- Advise and guide financial, variance, and trending analysis for key cost drivers and metrics
- Advise and guide the development of new financial models and improve accuracy and insights of current financial models
- Establish deliverable timelines ensuring plans, analysis, projects, and/or presentations are delivered on time
- Oversee and contribute to comprehensive financial, analytical, and decision support at the Team, Department, and/or Executive level
- Identify and execute opportunities that improve agility, efficiency, accuracy, and capabilities of FP&A processes and deliverables proactively
- Research new financial products or analytics to determine their usefulness and advise on strong systems and technology solutions in support of Finance business processes
- Review and approve the methodologies, models, and tools used by embedded Teams
- Guide the Department in achieving its long-term vision of a Successful FP&A Department
- Support and lead parts of the FP&A Digital Transformation plan
- Advise and guide the Department's overall data strategy, data reliability, and data availability
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, data analytics, financial forecasting methods, data science model design, and their applications
- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
- Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization’s strategic plan
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Ability to listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with others
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- Achieving results by maximizing teams through Leadership, feedback, coaching, and developing talent for long-term success
- Developing teams, their strategic vision, future goals, and objectives
- Business acumen to optimize the operations of the Team and achieve financial targets
Identifying tasks and responsibilities that should be delegated; resists the temptation to “do it yourself,” enabling others to take action, make decision, and learn from their experiences
Preferred: Experience and/or certification as a CPA or CFA
Preferred: Experience supporting C-level executives and effectively communicating at C-level executive level

- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

This Sr Manager and their Team of six Employees lead AOP planning, coordinate FLASH (consolidated financial forecasting) updates across the Financial Planning & Analysis Department, support Investor Relations, and serve as direct support for the CFO and their Team. This Sr Manager plays an important role in forecasting and informing our Executive Team, and they’ll help to pilot the future success of Southwest Airlines.

Competitive market salary from $151,400 - $168,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
