What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist in the development and implementation of policy strategies to support the employer and the laboratory industry
- Liaise between Medical Directors and Payer Medical Directors regarding payer policies and proposed changes
- Monitor and analyze payer policy updates, including NCD and LCD coverage policies
- Advocate for company positions on regulatory proposals and legislative changes affecting reimbursement
- Communicate developments and updates through reporting mechanisms and internal communications
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of relevant work experience; or a minimum of 7 years of work experience without a degree
- Prior experience with insurance guidelines and payer policy
- Experience working with state and federal agencies and commercial insurance payers
- Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes including prior authorization, coding, claims, and billing compliance
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate health care trends and implications
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Advanced degree (MBA, JD, M.A./M.S., CGC, RN)
- Experience in genetic counseling and prior authorizations
- Prior work experience in a clinical or business setting
- Familiarity with laboratory-related state legislation and laws
- Established relationships with policy makers in healthcare
