      Job Description:

      The Sr. Small Business SBA Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for partnering with Small Business Bankers (SBB) to provide the most appropriate lending solution to prospects and clients, including SBA options. The BDO is also be responsible for building a network of COIs in their market to self-source SBA opportunities to identify and develop new SBA client relationships for the bank. The BDO maintains and builds a network of referral sources including internal and external partners, Community Development Corporations (CDCs), commercial referral sources, and prospect lists provided by marketing intelligence. Once a relationship is established and the initial transaction is complete, the BDO transfers the client to a Small Business Banker to deepen and expand the long term banking relationship, allowing the BDO to focus on the primary role of identifying and booking SBA lending solutions. The BDO's primary focus includes identifying, marketing and educating on all SBA loan products.


      Desired Skills:

      • Strong desire to create business working with internal and external referral sources. Should have an existing COI network and knowledge in the market with proven track record of prospecting new business and exceptional sales skills
      • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or economics
      • Formal credit/lending training/strong credit skills with a focus on SBA lending
      • Proven business acumen by working with SBA products and Small Businesses to provide solutions and services to fit their financial needs
      • Familiarity with sales force automation, smart technology, Microsoft Office
      • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
      • Demonstrated sales ability; influences with impact; ability to develop new client relationships and new business
      • Manages risk
      • 5-10 years of experience in commercial banking and/or business lending
      • Up to 50% travel required
