- Ensure proper care of all pets in store as outlined in the Animal Care Manual
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and positive attitude in the workplace, including conducting oneself in an appropriate manner when communicating verbally, in writing or by email.
- Demonstrate a calm demeanor during periods of high volume, events and manage smooth transitions to keep store operating according to Pet Supermarket Standards
- Maintain inventory control, safety, loss prevention and expense control as outlined in Loss Prevention Standards
- Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean working environment
- Accountable for financial reporting and operational metrics standards as outlined in Financial Reporting Binder
- Maintain the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements
- Follow, enforce, and train all employees on all company policies and procedures
- Implementing all operational and merchandising direction that is communicated from the Corporate Office
- Fully accountable for execution of sales, service, and customer experience initiatives in store
- Consistently demonstrate excellent leadership and coaching skills
- Cultivate long term relationships
- Promote and market the business
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule which will include morning, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes the following:
- 2 evening shifts per week
- 1 full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every 3 weeks
- Saturday and Sunday twice a month
- Ability to work a minimum of 45 hours per week
- Proven ability to delegate and follow through on goals and objectives
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Proven leadership and training skills
- Experience with merchandising
- Strong verbal communication
- Ability to move throughout the store unassisted to provide customer service or perform tasks in any part of the store for up to 8 hour
- Must possess a minimum of 5+ years in retail establishment in Retail Store Management
- Supervising a minimum of 8 employees
- Training employees on company policies and procedures
- Capacity for understanding inter-team conflicts and escalating when necessary
- Clear and persuasive verbal and written communication
- Working knowledge of POS system preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Access to a motor vehicle
- Recruiting, developing and managing high-performing teams
- Inspire and engage employees by motivating the team to succeed
- Lead by example
- Observe and coach employee to provide feedback around sales techniques and providing excellent customer service
- Develop employees for growth and promotion by delegating appropriate responsibilities and inspecting completion
- Develop and execute individual development plans for store employees
