Job purpose: To deliver breakthrough strategic insight which enables the creation of compelling Innovation propositions, and validate those propositions to the point of execution.
Reports to: Head of Innovation Europe
Roles & responsibilities
1. Design and deliver front end approaches to best answer Innovation briefs
- Work with Front End Manager and agency partners to design and deliver approaches to generating breakthrough consumer insights from which transformational Innovation can be delivered.
- The approaches should take an iterative, building/recycling approach and may include (but are not exclusively) ethnography, use of data, use of subject matter experts in related fields, unique or breakthrough idea generation techniques.
2. Development of breakthrough insights which lead to transformational Innovation- Generate as an output of the front end process a well articulated summary of the insights generated (ideally proprietary), delivering a holistic view to the business of the consumer in this space.
- Validate where appropriate the insight to maximise opportunity to breakthrough
3. Lead the validation of the Innovations throughout the process from ideation to execution- Execute the validation of and objectively assess the performance of the propositions through a range of testing including as relevant: Insight screening, Concept screening, design development, CPT, test market / STM.
- Troubleshoot and make recommendations for improvements to the concepts
4. Champion the consumer throughout the process whilst having a view on the broader context- Ensure the consumer is front and centre in the decision making process and act as the voice of the consumer throughout
- Ensure other sources of insight (eg category) are syndicated and leveraged where relevant in the process
Experience
Education: University levelWork experience: 7 + years
Required work experience in field of expertise: Consumer insight, Marketing
Other fields of expertise: Cross-functional working, ideally OPCO and ‘above OPCO’ (Global or Regional) experience, Stakeholder management
Functional skills: Front end insight development and idea generation techniques, ethnography, Innovation validation methodologies
Languages: English

Dealing with ambiguity and complexity: Is able to manage a significant level of ambiguity and help others and across the business (team, senior stakeholders, OPCOs) to deal with it.
Other skills: Managing complexity with strong ability to simplify and prioritise. Ability to see the big picture whilst converting this pragmatically into action.
