A great opportunity has become available for a Strategy & Valuations Analyst to lead for the appraisal of new C&I (commercial and industrial) solar investment opportunities here at EDF Renewables.
The Opportunity
The role partners with commercial project managers to progress opportunities to a final investment decision stage, by ensuring a robust and consistent assessment of the project’s economics and value drivers. The role is accountable for the financial modelling and analyses underpinning investment decisions in new C&I solar projects, producing and delivering clear presentations of reliable financial outputs for senior executives and the internal Investment Committee.

What you’ll be doing
A challenge for this role is to confidently present complex information to the CEO, along with other Leadership Team level colleagues, and be able to explain and justify findings clearly and with data to back it up.
Another challenge for this role is to be at the forefront of a highly complex and fast developing technology in solar power. The role will need to adapt and learn quickly as new business models are established.• Lead the appraisal of new C&I solar investment opportunities.
• Partner with commercial project managers to progress opportunities to a final investment decision stage, by ensuring a robust and consistent assessment of the project’s economics and value drivers.
• Deliver financial modelling and analyses underpinning investment decisions in new C&I assets.
• Produce and deliver clear presentations of reliable financial outputs for senior executives and the internal Investment Committee.
• Act as an internal expert on C&I economics, valuations, and financing structures.
• Analyse the market to identify new drivers for competitiveness and value and deliver key market insights to influence the commercial strategy for C&I solar projects.
• Partner with senior business developers to identify opportunities and develop a competitive pipeline of projects.
• Engage with EDF Renewables’ investment analyst team to share knowledge, best practice and ensure compliance with EDF Group’s investment governance.
What do you need to be great at this role?
You’ll be a self-starter with an excellent educational background, delivery and presentation skills, ideally with experience of presenting to senior management.• Financial and commercial modelling skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to draw relevant commercial insights for presentation to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to self-review and critique their work.
• Commercially oriented, with the ability to digest technical and financial inputs and translate them into high-quality deliverables.
• Able to build and maintain relationships with key colleagues and stakeholders within EDF-R.
• Team player, who thrives in a collaborative environment helping to achieve EDF-R’s targets.
• Understanding of the UK power markets for systems involving C&I solar.
• Experience in identifying critical regulatory changes in the market that could affect the future direction of the company.
• Experience in carrying out due-diligence and valuation of projects involving C&I solar.
• Experience in co-ordinating multidisciplinary teams.
