- As our Strategic Investment Principal, you’ll be supporting in sourcing strategic opportunities and negotiating terms, while managing a small portfolio of investees and partnerships

- Sourcing of potential investees through ecosystem engagement and outreach
- Conduct market and competitor research to provide insights for transaction negotiation
- Ensure due diligence is completed with appropriate challenge to support and protect the organisation’s interests
- Develop business cases; making sure appropriate financial rigour and reasoning is applied and is aligned with strategic objectives
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams to structure and execute investment
- Provide day to day management a portfolio of early stage, and regular reporting on performance of joint venture or programmatic strategic investments
- A good understanding of a wide range of technologies, technology trends and technological innovation
- The ability to assess alignment to the future ‘One Bank’ strategic need
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- The ability to influence, persuade and challenge conventional thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to synthesise information, form a view and effectively communicate it to others

What you’ll do
Investing in the right technology means that we can inspire growth and empower our colleagues to help as many of our customers as possible. That’s why making the right strategic investments are so important, and why your role will be crucial when it comes to identifying potential investment opportunities and partners.
Your daily responsibilities will see you supporting the Head of Strategic Investments generating, finding, analysing and agreeing potential investment opportunities, including with early stage technology start-ups. Alongside this, you’ll support coordinating and delivering deal structures and support a portfolio of investments and partnerships.
We’ll need you to lead the development of appropriate business cases while working collaboratively with colleagues and delivering engagement plans with the start-up community and external partners. You’ll also provide the completion of the appropriate due diligence in collaboration with specialist teams across NatWest.
