- Maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
- Communicate with members of the FMU Global: Africa and the African Project.
- Meet with Project Director weekly to discuss progress on key items and plan a schedule for the following week
- Schedule, organize and report on status of research activities with partners in South Africa, Brazil, and Colombia.
- Work with campus and community partners on activities that promote the project’s goals. Activities include the annual International Education Week, Homecoming, Hispanic Heritage Month, and celebrations by international students.
- Collect data, write, and communicate project information to the Project Director.
- Prepare a monthly progress report summarizing proposed activities completed.
- Assist with the preparation of reports to the IDEAS grant Activities Director
- Meet with campus stakeholders, including SGA, International Student Advisor, and Campus Internationalization Committee members.
- Assist in scheduling meetings with EAC members, community partners such as the International Trade Consortium.
- Perform additional research activities that enhance the project’s objectives. You will be provided with a list of research activities each semester.
- Provide a Schedule of Availability for the semester to the Project Director and to the Administrative Assistant in the School of Business.
- Ensure compliance with Human Resources hiring work regulations.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- FMU student with a 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher.
- High School diploma or GED with prior customer service or administrative experience.
- Must be currently enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credits as an undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Ability to make entry level decisions and a willingness to ask questions.
- Must demonstrate responsibility, initiative, timeliness, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
- Technical Skills: knowledge of technology/office equipment and willingness to learn new information systems and software.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
- Pre-employment screening is required-criminal background check and drug testing.
The FMU Global African Project Student Assistant shall play an active role in FMU's academic programs and collaborate with staff and administration to ensure students and guests are provided with opportunities and services to help them succeed.
