The Supervisor of Account Set-Up is responsible for the supervision regarding the maintenance and implementation of new and existing individual and employer business within Membership. Responsible for applying benefit plan corrections, as well as reporting these corrections for claims review and adjustments. Plan, coordinate, and organize the workload within the unit to provide the most efficient and accurate maintenance and set up of groups and members, for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Responsible for benefit communication team PE System Specialists to identify, research, resolve, and implement resolutions for benefit related issues from end-to-end processing. Accountable for quick resolution of all issues. Supports implementation of process improvements through the down-stream work streams within Membership. Actively engaged in relationships with stakeholders, partners, and vendors. Provides direction to key stakeholders as to the operational execution and changes made within the process. Facilitates and drives team resolution to internal efficiency discussion and execution. Responsible for Corporate and Department goals
“This position is eligible to work onsite, remote, or hybrid (9 or more days a month onsite) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.”
This position will be required to report to the Topeka campus at least once quarterly.

What you’ll do
General Activities: Responsible for forecasting and analysis of workload within the unit and monitors and coach performance to meet department and corporate goals and objectives and to be utilized for performance/salary. Supervise the maintenance and implementation of new and existing individual and employer business, utilizing paper application or 834 enrollments. Supervise the application of corrected benefit plans to all impacted groups and insureds. Communicate retro-active benefit plan changes to the claims department for claims review and adjustment. Supervise billing configurations while collaborating with claims billing and presentment to ensure customer needs are met. Responsible for loading individual and employer group rates for invoice presentment. Responsible for employer group cancelation and issuance of appropriate notification. Responsible for team interpretation of contractual languages, benefit coding, benefit summaries of all contracts, and any new contracts which may be developed in the future. Keep current on all policy changes, benefit changes, and understand impacts to new benefit coding. Responsible for team coordination of contractual language administration. Responsible for team maintenance of Coverage/BGT and Benefit Plan data for the interpretation of present contractual languages and any new contracts which may be developed. Responsible for evaluating corporate and unit procedures and making changes to unit procedures as needed to attain higher levels of employee performance and customer satisfaction. Review all system problems and system changes and change unit procedures as needed. Create and maintain a good working relationship with all areas that are involved with Membership, providing constructive feedback to improve workflow and efficiencies between units and departments.
Plan, organize and implement special projects to meet the needs of management and/or groups. Responsible for evaluation of staffing needs within the unit and submission of recommended changes to management. Responsible for advising management of potential problems with groups or processes that will require notification to other units/departments or could potentially result in dissatisfaction for a customer. Ensure employees receive appropriate training for production work they are responsible for.
Encourage and recognize employees for maintaining or improving performance or process improvements that enhance the customer experience.
Must comply with and implement corporate information security policies, standards, and guidelines relative to access control. Responsible for maintaining an awareness and understanding of the business unit recovery plan for the department you work in and the corporation’s business continuity program in general.
What you need
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong analytical skills and the ability to use sound judgement in resolving multiple complex issues. Ability to develop department strategy to achieve corporate goals and provide for optimal customer satisfaction. Ability to analyze information to project staffing needs and workload distribution. Ability to learn and understand Membership responsibilities, especially around the benefit repository, group configurator and components, and the effect on downline processes. Demonstrated success in organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, company project management, communication with senior management, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to develop, document, and maintain operational policies and procedures. Strong technical understanding and knowledge of the Agile process.
Education and Experience:
High school education or equivalency required. College degree in Business Administration, Management, or Communications preferred. Five years membership experience preferred. Three years supervisory or leadership experience is required.
Other Job Functions:
Performs job related projects as assigned by management. Represents and leads the Membership Department on cross-divisional teams or projects impacting Membership Systems or processes.
