What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assess health record documentation to ensure it supports all diagnoses and procedures for coding
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, clinical disease processes, and terminology to accurately assign codes
- Utilize knowledge of disease processes and surgical procedures to classify non-indexed medical terms
- Implement Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) definitions for principal diagnosis and procedures
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems to assist in submitting clean claims
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems
- Certification as CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA
- Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience
- Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
- Preferred certification as RHIA or RHIT
