      AIG’s Office of Sustainability collaborates with colleagues globally to drive strategy, integration, alignment, and advancement of sustainability initiatives companywide, ensuring they support business goals and are responsive to stakeholder expectations.

      About the role

      The Sustainability team is seeking strategic support with sustainability reporting, project management and development of high-quality resources and communication materials, as well as a subject matter expert on key sustainability issues and trends.

      As Sustainability Reporting Manager, you will drive sustainability priorities in support of corporate strategy, ensuring AIG is well-positioned to produce investor-grade sustainability information amidst the increasing regulatory requirements at state, country and global levels. You will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing and managing AIG’s reporting strategy in alignment with regulatory requirements, and independently leading and managing the development of AIG's annual ESG report and other related disclosures.

      The role will also support relevant research and benchmarking analyses, cross-functional working groups and external partnerships and advancement of AIG’s sustainability strategy and priorities including climate action and net zero goals. You will help nurture and build trusted partnerships across the organization and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure accurate and transparent reporting of our sustainability initiatives.

      Responsibilities:

      • Lead the development of AIG’s annual ESG report and other related disclosures (e.g., CDP), including content collection, identifying new disclosures, analyzing areas of improvement, performing gap analyses and implementing an ESG reporting platform.
      • Manage third-party vendors supporting ESG report development, which includes on-boarding and monitoring throughout the project life cycle.
      • Collaborate with business units and functional areas to develop ESG metrics to effectively measure and report on AIG’s performance.
      • Effectively communicate and partner with key stakeholders to support inquiries and request for information, including compilation of data, data verification and review of sustainability-related questionnaires, surveys, filings and RFPs.
      • Support external assurance processes of sustainability information.
      • Develop and maintain internal and external summary documents, FAQs, talking points and presentations.
      • Support maintaining internal and external sustainability websites as needed.
      • Support research and analysis across a range of ESG topics and metrics, including GHG emissions accounting and reporting, materiality assessment, thought leadership/whitepapers, presentations and other relevant projects, as needed.
      • Monitor emerging sustainability trends, programs and issues to ensure proper benchmarks are established and maintained and develop valuable presentation materials to summarize data.
      • Communicate AIG’s sustainability performance and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
      • Support efforts to advance AIG’s path to net zero and climate change strategy, including quantitative and qualitative analyses.
      • Research partnership and coalition membership opportunities and help manage current memberships.
      • Manage sustainability administrative functions, including supporting various ESG working groups and general support of the Office of Sustainability.
      • Promote visibility of Sustainability within the enterprise and support special projects, as needed.

      Qualifications:

      • 5+ years of professional experience in sustainability reporting or related role within a publicly traded company.
      • Experience in developing and publishing sustainability reports in accordance with regulatory frameworks and standards (e.g., Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, UN Global Compact; UN Sustainable Development Goals, Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures).
      • Experience with sustainability reporting tools (Workiva ESG reporting platform preferred).
      • Knowledge of ESG topics and trends and ratings and rankings (e.g., MSCI, ISS, CDP, Sustainalytics, Ecovadis), as well as familiarity with current and upcoming regulatory requirements related to climate or sustainability reporting (e.g., ISSB, SEC, CRSD).
      • Ability to effectively research ESG issues and translate into insightful, concise reports to support decision-making.
      • Experience in coordinating, collaborating and managing internal and external stakeholders to communicate sustainability performance and progress, work through complex problems and find solutions that drive our priorities forward.
      • Strong and capable project management skills, including the ability to drive projects from ideation to completion, adjust timeframes as needed to address unforeseen events, and provide frequent updates to senior management.
      • Attention to detail, and consistent and accurate follow-through on multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
      • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
      • Superb skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
      • Solid communication, writing and editing skills.
      • Skilled at relationship building and management.
      • Proficiency with change management and/or process development and improvement.
      • Knowledge in GHG emissions accounting, development and implementation of net zero transition plans and science-based targets preferred.
      • Experience in the insurance sector or financial services industry, with broad knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance products and services preferred.

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental, Sustainability, Communications-related field preferred. A master’s degree in a similar field is desired.
      • Preferred location: Houston, TX, New York, NY or Jersey City. NJ.

      For positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $82,000-$110,000. For positions based in Jersey City, the base salary range is $78,000-$103,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
