Manages the design and implementation of development training programs to enhance the effectiveness of managers and teams to increase organization productivity and customer satisfaction. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Assesses critical business issues and designs organization development and strategic plans to enhance company performance. Facilitates design and implementation of reengineering and/or reorganization efforts. Advises on team design and performance. Provides development, coaching and training managers on leadership skills.
The Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) Sr. Manager of Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness will provide Center of Excellence leadership in strategic talent management, pipeline development, organizational effectiveness and design. Reporting directly to the Director of Talent & Organizational Capability (T&OC), this position will serve as key leader and interface to RMS senior and executive leaders, Human Resources professionals and the Corporate Talent team to identify and deliver on RMS workforce and organizational needs. This individual will also partner closely with other members of the Integrated Talent Management and T&OC leadership team as well as manage a team of individuals supporting the RMS Lines of Business and Functions.
The person in this role will also be responsible for understanding the RMS business strategy, recommending executive level development, and creating organizational design capability throughout the TM & OD team to ensure the organization has the ability to meet current and future business needs.
Key responsibilities will include providing thought leadership to the talent management function, leading the design of best-in-class talent solutions, leveraging data analytics to push the discipline further and, and providing structure, guidance and support for identification and development of key capabilities within RMS. As a key member of the leadership team, this person will be expected to develop strategies to support talent needs of today, while building the necessary talent capability and depth to meet evolving and future business needs.
Specific areas of responsibility include the following:
• Provide oversight of Talent & Organizational Effectiveness consulting across Lines of Business and Functions. Ensure breadth of understanding regarding diagnosis, solution recommendation, and implementation across the discipline.
• Partner with Corporate Talent as well as the RMS Global Talent Acquisition (GTA), Total Rewards (TR) and Global Diversity and Inclusion (GD&I) teams to build short-term and long-range talent and workforce strategies and actions specifically as it relates to building a strong pipeline of talent.
• Develop and execute processes that build senior level leadership talent within RMS, focusing on high potential talent throughout the full Leadership pipeline, working in partnership with corporate Talent Management lead as needed
• Build executive and leadership succession pipelines and key roles within critical talent segments for current and future business needs utilizing methodologies that meet or exceed industry best practices.
• Provide leadership of the RMS Talent Management process including RMS Talent Pool and Talent Development teams; Partner with Line of Business and Functional VPs, Directors and HR teams to further define, reimagine and execute the process for RMS.
• Build leader capabilities around identification, development of talent and a continued culture of feedback.
• Facilitate the corporate talent review planning process for RMS and lead/support RMS talent reviews throughout the year as required.
• Enhance the delivery model for talent and organizational effectiveness services in partnership with HR business partners.
• Improve overall organizational effectiveness Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
Required Skills:
• 10+ years of relevant experience in organizations recognized for leading edge capability in Human Resources, Talent Management, Org Effectiveness and/or and Workforce Strategy
• HR Leadership, either in an HR Business Partner or other HR capacity, with large or complex organizations with geographically disbursed team members and clients
• Strong communications skills and executive presence, able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, external constituencies, and partners across the Lockheed Martin enterprise.
• Ability to influence, collaborate and strategically partner across multiple areas within HR and all lines of business, ensuring sponsorship and buy-in from key stakeholders, in a complex and global business model.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and coach a team through a challenging and sometimes ambiguous agenda. Proven track record of strategic thinking, translating strategy into action and execution
• Demonstrates characteristics that embody RMS’ Cultural Imperatives: Make the Connection, Take Ownership and Drive Change
• Experience in diagnosing talent pipeline and workforce development requirements and translating these into practical interventions, including talent identification and development practices, processes and programs.
• Experience in diagnosing organizational challenges, proposing and leading through solutions to improve org performance through strategy, org design, team culture and structure.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of how to leverage data analytics to drive strategic workforce decisions.
• Demonstrated positive, can-do attitude, energetic, enthusiastic, innovative and goal-oriented
• Willingness to travel (20%) • An exceptional leader with broad-based business acumen, sound judgment and proven, in-depth executive experience in talent management and workforce strategy.
• HR business partner experience
• 12+ years’ experience and progressive/increasing scope with related Advanced Degree
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ direct experience with Talent Management, including development and succession planning of executive level talent (Directors and VP’s)
• MS or MBA degree in Human Resource Management, Organization Design, Organizational Behavior, Effectiveness or Development or similar program preferred
• Prior success in driving best in class talent management strategy and processes throughout an organization.
• Ability to recognize talent and potential in individuals. S/He will lead an efficient process for talent pool and slate development as well as strategies to fill critical talent gaps.
• Experience as a specialist practitioner of Talent and Organizational Capability services including performance consulting, talent management, organizational design (OD), organizational effectiveness (OE), change management, Learning & Capability Development, or Human Resources Development.
• Strong relationships with external thought leaders in talent, workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness and leadership development. Awareness of the latest trends and best practices in this space.
• Fluent in innovative talent management tools, technologies and new practices.
• Lean/Six Sigma certification and experience
• Experience leading in a matrix environment or an organization that has navigated large scale transformation is preferred
