      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Research state, local, or federal tax law and conduct legal and policy analysis on complex tax issues
      - Draft memorandums and policy guidance documents responding to inquiries and addressing long-term policy issues
      - Participate in department implementation projects with significant impact and engage in stakeholder meetings
      - Conduct internal training and facilitate public engagement opportunities on key tax topics
      - Support programs aimed at providing refunds to low and moderate-income citizens and reuniting owners with lost property

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum of three years of professional experience in tax administration, tax auditing, tax collection, or public policy analysis
      - Ability to interpret complex tax laws and develop legally sound policy alternatives
      - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting technical guidance documents
      - Proficient in legal research and analysis, including understanding of legislative history and administrative rulings
      - Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - A Juris Doctorate from an accredited school of law, or a Bachelor's degree in public finance, business, accounting, public administration, or a closely allied field
      - Experience as a Tax Policy Specialist 2 for current or past employees of the Department of Revenue
      - An LL.M. in taxation may substitute for one year of required experience
