      Job summary

      We are looking for a strong leader and clinician to lead our Brent CAMHS team. You will be joining a supportive, innovative and busy service. If you are looking for a new challenge, and are ready to take on this crucial leadership role, please ensure to read all the information available.

      Please note this role is an on-site role.

      The postholder will take day to day operational management responsibility in the planning, directing and performance management of the Brent CAMHS team and work of all local CAMHS contracted services. The post holder will ensure that service access and delivery is efficient, effective, evidence based, needs led and service user and carer focused. They will provide clear leadership, in partnership with the Service Manager in order to ensure access to timely treatment and intervention by well-led and motivated staff that contributes to promoting safety and achievement for all children and young people.

      The post holder is expected to offer a clinical day to undertake clinical assessment and intervention in line with registration, CPD and service needs.

      Main duties of the job

      • To ensure the effective use of human resources ensuring safe levels of staffing which reflect the necessary and appropriate skill mix.
      • To ensure that as a member of CAMHS you are fully aware of current developments, legislation and practice in the care of children and young people with mental health problems
      • Provide assessments of children and young people referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources
      • Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of children and young people under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni-and multidisciplinary care
      • The post holder will ensure that his/her own practice and conduct and that of the members of the team adheres to the following CNWL standards
      • To ensure the appropriate and accurate use of the client information data base (System1)
      • The post holder will complete the CNWL mandatory training programme annually within directed timescales.
      • The post holder will work in line with CNWL policy and procedures at all times.

      • To ensure all aspects of daily operational duties are undertaken, including recruitment and selection, performance and capability.

      About us

      CNWL CAMHS offers community mental health services across five London Boroughs, and one in Milton Keynes. Under the wider CAMHS services we have two in-patient units; Collingham Gardens for under 13-year olds and Lavender Walk, an adolescent unit, in inner London, as well our local MHST's. There is also a specialist CYP Eating Disorders Service that sits within our all age Eating Disorders Service and the ACTS team, is co-located with us at Monks Park.

      You will be expected to support the development of all staff and a commitment to meaningful engagement with children & young people, families and other stakeholders to help continuously improve our services is essential as well as ensuring clinicians are encouraged to work in a participatory way so that shared decision making and conversations around formulation/diagnosis and ongoing care are a collaborative endeavour with the people who access our service.

      • Management qualification
      • HCPC or other relevant professional registration
      • Recent safeguarding children training

      • CBT supervisor CYP IAPT trained

      Experience

      Essential

      • Extensive post qualifying experience of working within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team
      • Experience of operationally managing or coordinating a team of clinicians
      • Experience of managing and supervising others in a clinical and performance management context including appraisal
      • Experience of operationally managing a large multidisciplinary team
      • Able to confidently and competently undertake generic and emergency CAMHS assessment

      Desirable

      • Experience of delivering training to colleagues
      • Fluent in an additional language
