- Supports service line/department in actively working toward association-level objectives, as measured by identified goals/KPIs
- Participates in the budgeting process within their service line/department and serves as a good steward of association resources
- Know, understand, and abide by all YMCA of WNC Youth Development programs, policies, and procedures
- Innate ability to engage with young people and lead dynamic efforts in teen engagement through programs, events and special initiatives, including Togetherhood.
- Coordinate partnerships with volunteer opportunity sponsors and follow agreement standards.
- Coordinate and lead weekly Teen clubs and activities such as Leaders Club
- Coordinate and lead conference opportunities for teens such as Youth in Government, Leaders School, Model UN, Summer of Service
- Coordinate and lead Teen service learning and volunteer engagement events throughout the region as needed including evenings and weekends
- Assist in developing and writing grant applications.
- Travel to each center and assist in facilitating teen focus groups and programs.
- Represent the YMCA of WNC at community events tailored to youth and teens.
- Perform daily office work as needed such as filing, copying, record keeping
- Lead by example and work collaboratively with fellow YMCA staff.
- Perform all other duties as required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Three or more years’ experience working with older youth, community engagement and outreach, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification, as well as Youth Mental Health First Aid within 90 days of hire.
- Must possess a clean driving record, be able to successfully complete YMCA driver’s training and be willing to drive a mini-bus on a regular basis.
- Basic computer literacy and use of related technology required for communication, scheduling, and reporting.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.
- Understanding and knowledge of children of all ages, their behavior and development, and the ability to use this knowledge as a resource with staff.
- Specific knowledge in the development of age-appropriate curriculum activities, use of appropriate behavior management techniques, and the ability to transfer this knowledge to staff is necessary.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Organizational skills related to handling documents and associated paperwork.
- Ability to provide leadership in accordance with the YMCA mission to other YMCA site staff.
- A professional demeanor and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Must be able to stand and/or be active for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
- Must be able to clearly see, hear, and speak.
- Must be able to solve, reason, make decisions, and use sound judgment when distracted by noise and activity.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Community Teen Director, the Teen Leadership Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of assigned programs Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: delivering effective teen leadership programming, Togetherhood Initiatives and Teen Center engagement. The Teen Leadership Coordinator is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and services to YMCA members, volunteers, and participants in partnership with a larger team. They are a vital member of the YMCA leadership staff and a highly visible representative of the YMCA mission, and core values and are accountable for knowing and properly executing all YMCA policies and procedures. Aspects of this role are grant funded. The continuation of this role beyond its initial scope and timeline is contingent on achieving desired outcomes and securing ongoing grant funding.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
