Hybrid Working

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). The purpose of this role is to manage Governance and Control aspects of the Model COE.
The role encompasses all credit impairments across Barclays Group, typically £2-3bn per annum of charges across Barclays UK, Barclays International and Group assets. Business units include credit cards, unsecured lending, mortgages, private, corporate and investment banking.
The role holder will be responsible for supporting the management of c115 models across the group used to derive impairments for the reporting of actuals or forecasts and will work closely with SOX, BIA and CCO teams to develop a comprehensive control and governance environment for all impairment models. A detailed and well-understood approach to Governance and Control will be essential to deliver on the mandate for this role. The role holder will be responsible for the tasks below with further allocation developing as the role is expanded:
What will you be doing?
• Work on Impairment Actuals based reporting and delivering the reports and results with accuracy and with bank standards
• Responsible for model execution and collating results, work in tandem with other team members and generate timely results
• Manage Governance & Control deliverables including Sox signoff and management of Group CCO and KPMG relationships
• Ensure appropriate governance and controls are in place for all key processes.
• Coordinate with internal teams and Auditors (internal and external) for completing the audit requirements and resolving the issues
• Ensure team produce outputs on a regular and timely basis as agreed with stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to automate activities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Regular interaction with stakeholders across multiple teams and levels in the organisation
• Develop robust internal controls including policies and procedures; change control; comprehensive documentation; model validation; and review by IA
• Role requires significant analytical and technical skills and evaluative judgement in order determine appropriate model methodologies but also to determine the right balance between model sophistication and practical application/understanding by stakeholders.
• Leverage knowledge of financial statement analysis and technical framework to make sound decisions regarding forecasting/overlays, governance, controls, and model framework
• Interact with key stakeholders in Risk, CCO, Finance and Treasury to ensure the results produced by the team are well understood.
• Produce regular output demonstrating the functioning of the control environment
• Maintain knowledge of current impairment models and monitoring processes
• Build and maintain appropriate governance and controls processes
• Manage deliver on team objectives ensuring output quality is in line with expected standards, presentation and content reviewed with senior managersWhat we’re looking for:
Skills
• Data management/analysis skills, with experience in usage of widely known commercially available data processing software
• Team working and stakeholder management across all levels
• Clear and concise communication to present results of analyses up to level of D in the organization
Competencies
• Credit risk management – factors impacting the credit Risk and controls to avoid the same
• Impairment provisioning standards (IFRS9)
• Knowledge of financial services industry and market
• Banking products knowledge and collections/recoveries process
• Knowledge of models and codes required for impairment calculations
• Prior experience on working on system controls design and validation related to transfer of data and systems architecture
