What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Abstract required information into the Trauma Registry and coordinate the reporting of data to the Florida Department of Health Trauma Registry
- Facilitate and manage the process for identifying trauma patients in the hospital data system utilizing Cerner reports
- Prepare data reports for the Trauma Committee, M&M, and trauma site visits
- Ensure accurate and error-free data reporting to the Florida Department of Health and NTDB
- Conduct special projects and assignments as directed by the Trauma Director or Trauma Medical Director
What is Required (Qualifications):
- CSTR - Certified Trauma Registry Specialist required within one (1) year of hire
- CAISS - Certified Abbreviated Injury Scaling Specialist required within one (1) year of hire
- Completion of Trauma Specific ICD-10 course required within 90 days of hire
- 2-4 years of Registry and Coding experience
- High school education or equivalent
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- EMT, Paramedic training, or vocational nursing training program highly preferred
- Preferred experience with Trauma One
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of ICD9-CM and AIS/ISS scoring methods
- Ability to take initiative in identifying problems affecting quality
