      Job Description

      As commercial finance unit controller you will business partner the sales team to help ensure that business decisions are grounded in sound financial analysis to support the business in delivery of revenue and GP strategy. As part of the commercial finance team, you will support with the execution of JDE’s revenue management strategy and trade spend investment, whilst ensuring accurate, timely and compliant reporting of results.

      Key Responsibilities include;

      Business Partnering:

      The role will business partner the sales teams to:

      • Provide decision making support for commercial decisions to drive company performance – sales, profit, and cash – both on a strategic – e.g., annual joint business plans – and daily basis
      • Attend, contribute, and challenge within standard meetings – commercial reviews, S&OP etc
      • Ensuring results are accurately recorded and forecasted – e.g., all risks and opportunities captured in forecasts, pricing is accurate, trade spend is accruing accurately, promotional accruals monitored, rebates accurately paid out, sense check of COGS etc.

      Financial reporting:

      The role will also support activities across all customers to ensure accurate reporting. These could include:

      • Summaries of Actual and Forecast performance – by brand, customer etc. with focus on volume, pricing and mix analysis and GP/kg management
      • Producing Management Reporting Decks (MRDs) – monthly and ad hoc
      • Accurate and informative Daily Sales reporting
      • Updating Global JDE pricing information – e/g., quarterly sales/kg for top products
      • Consolidating total business forecast down to net profit
      • Summarizing total accruals and balance sheet position on trade spend
      • Ad hoc analysis of issues identified in results to improve performance

      Other responsibilities

      Work with other finance and non-finance departments on cross-functional objectives:

      • FP&A - on ensuring new products are accurately forecasted
      • Accounts Receivable team to maximize cashflow
      • Finance Excellence Centre – balance sheet reconciliations etc.
      • Ensure systems are running effectively to manage trade promotions and total business performance – e.g., Xtel, TAS, SAP
      • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls related to sales activities
      • Collaborate with finance and audit teams on audit and control reviews
      • Provide cover for Commercial Finance associates

      Qualifications

      Qualifications
      Must have:

      • Qualified accountant/ Experienced Finance professional with +2 years commercial finance experience
      • Able to communicate with and influence people at all levels within and outside the organisation
      • Ability to work on own initiative / Proactive
      • Ability to prioritise own workload
      • Good written and oral communication skills – framing complex in a simple and concise way to non-finance stakeholders
      • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
      • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, x/v-lookups)

      Nice to have:

      • Experience in a similar role
      • FMCG experience
      • SAP, Trade accrual systems, Xtel,
      • Power BI & Data Analytics
