- Responsible at the highest level for the overall client experience
- Provide clients excellent service, meeting their specific needs in a timely and complete way, exceeding client expectations
- Retain and grow client assets under management through relationship management activities in alignment with firm strategy
- Develop and deepen relationships with client decision-makers and influencers through proactive, regular and thoughtful outreach
- Offer clients access to all of Brown Advisory’s institutional investment strategies and investment insight
- Maintain thorough knowledge of Brown Advisory’s institutional investment strategies
- Provide and discuss investment performance with clients on a regular basis.
- Speak to clients about market dynamics and trends
- Arrange, facilitate and follow up on meetings and calls with clients and consultants
- Work effectively with investment team to involve them as appropriate in client meetings
- Set goals for client related activity, and implement plan to achieve goals
- Document all client related activity in Salesforce and present metrics periodically
- Work closely with the Relationship Associate team on administrative and operational client matters
- Manage new client onboardings in partnership with internal teams
- Work with clients and internal operations teams to complete all investment, operational, and compliance due diligence questionnaires
- Assist in remediating client issues and escalate as appropriate
- In partnership with the Consultant Relations team, serve consultants who work with our clients, and seek to develop new business from existing or new clients
- Lead efforts to build Brown Advisory’s brand in the industry by participating in client sponsored events and conferences
- Support a positive team culture, consistent with Brown Advisory values
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or CFA desirable
- 8+ years client-facing experience in institutional investment management
- Significant experience working with complex institutional client relationships
- Experience with investment consultants and with direct institutional asset owners
- Proven ability to successfully build relationships with sophisticated institutional investors
- Ability to think strategically and embrace change
- Orientation towards achievement of team goals
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, team-centered, deadline-oriented environment
- Self-motivated, with outstanding organizational and time management abilities
- Proven, strong client service and relationship management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Mindset for continuous learning
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe
- Experience with Salesforce or another CRM
- Ability to work in the Baltimore office location

Job Description
Brown Advisory is currently seeking an Institutional Relationship Manager to join our Direct-Consultant Relations team in our Baltimore office. This is a key-client facing role and will be responsible for growing and retaining client assets under management through developing and maintaining relationships with institutional clients (such as pension funds, endowments, foundations, health care organizations, insurance companies) who use Brown Advisory’s proprietary equity and fixed income strategies.
