What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as the primary point of contact for claimants in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability appeal process
- Conduct interviews and assist claimants in completing various disability claim forms
- Perform heavy data entry while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality of claimant information
- Respond to customer inquiries and follow up with claimants for additional information as needed
- Provide insight into the VA process and maintain positive relationships with claimants
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's degree or higher preferred with at least six months of customer service experience or relevant experience
- Strong oral and telephone communication skills
- Superior organizational skills and a high level of initiative
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and produce quality work
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in the disability advocacy field or related customer service roles
- Knowledge of VA disability processes and programs
- Experience with case management systems
- Strong mentoring and training skills
- Familiarity with additional services/programs beneficial to claimants
