- Under the Supportive Service for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, screen, enroll, and case manage eligible low-income veteran families in housing stability crises.
- Develop and administer appropriate interventions and referrals, including delivery of program-specific services, that reasonably lower the veteran families’ barriers to housing and corollary supportive services.
- Provide appropriate intermediate community referrals necessary for program participants’ long-term stability and community reintegration.
- Provide outreach to the community and develop substantive networks among Department of Veteran Affairs, veteran service, homeless prevention, supportive service, and housing agencies that advance the interests of homeless veteran families.
- Advocate for homeless veteran families with a vision towards ending veteran homelessness in the community.
- Complete timely and accurate reports and documentation necessary for program compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Veterans Service Coordinator.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in Human Services or a related field is preferred.
- Some college and/or high school diploma and two (2) years experience in Human Services will be considered.
- Preference will be given to a Veteran or member of the U.S. Armed Forces (any branch), an experienced veteran caregiver, or someone with direct work experience with state or federal military and veteran programs.
- Must reside in the Amarillo area.
- Skill in operating standard office machines (telephone phone, fax, copier, calculator, etc.) and personal computer with intermediate or greater experience with the standard Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Some regional travel is required. Milege is reimbursed at the state approved rate.
- The selected candidate must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license, and be insurable under agency insurance.
- Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.

StarCare Specialty Health System seeks to hire a Veteran Case Manager to join the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Team at VetStar-Amarillo (the veteran services division of StarCare).
Veteran Case Manager Responsibilities:
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department. This position works on-site and must live in the Amarillo area.
