What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist the physician with documentation of the patient's medical record and transcribe impressions, plans, and test results
- Complete detailed patient histories, including past medical, family, and medication histories
- Document procedures performed by the physician and transcribe consultations with family members
- Communicate with patients regarding appointments, follow-up care, and additional testing as directed
- Attend required staff and educational meetings to enhance knowledge and skills
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 2-3 years of experience as a Retina Scribe required
- 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician preferred
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and procedures
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with advanced ophthalmic testing and procedures
- Certification as a COA/COT (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician)
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to handle 4-6 patient encounters per hour efficiently
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and surgical procedures
