What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist the physician with documentation of the patient's medical record, including detailed patient histories
- Transcribe the physician's impressions, plans, test results, prescriptions, and orders
- Document any procedures performed by the physician or ophthalmic medical personnel
- Communicate with patients regarding appointment scheduling, follow-up care, and other inquiries
- Attend required staff and educational meetings to stay updated on best practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 2-3 years of relevant Retina Scribe experience required
- 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician, with or without COA/COT preferred
- Thorough knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and surgical procedures
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with basic and advanced ophthalmic testing, including OCT, visual field testing, and fundus photography
- Familiarity with ophthalmic pharmacology and terminology
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrating professionalism and empathy
- Prior experience assisting providers with patient encounters and technical workups
- Understanding of sterile techniques and procedures
