      What is the opportunity?

RBCx pursues big, bold ideas and leverages RBC’s extensive experience, networks, and capital to help shape what’s next. Our four pillars – Banking, Capital, Platform, and Ventures – combine to support tech businesses of all sizes and stages, making us the go-to backer of Canadian innovation. Our people are our most valuable assets, which is why we invest deeply in making sure RBCx isn’t just a place to work, but a place to belong. We’re currently looking for ambitious trailblazers and curious minds who want to help grow the next generation of Canadian tech companies. If that’s you, we can’t wait to connect.

As a VP, Banking you understand the challenges start-up and scale-up tech companies face in Canada and how RBCx can help leverage capital and non-capital solutions. You will provide customized solutions that align sales, products, risk policy, and market strategies. Your highly-developed experience with financial analysis, credit and client acquisition will shine as you deliver solutions by combining your leadership, relationship and portfolio management talent and passion for client service.

Additionally, you will also lead the Ottawa & Atlantic Canada team of associates, and support them to deliver an exceptional end-to-end client onboarding experience for new and existing clients and proactively identify opportunities (digital or otherwise) to further grow and deepen relationships through strong knowledge of the client’s operational banking need.

      What will you do?

      • Become a trusted advisor to our tech clients and play a role as a partner in their growth journey.
      • Provide financial solutions, strategic advice, as well as initiate a few introductions to people or businesses that can help our clients.
      • Apply a continuous-improvement approach to delivering a superior client experience.
      • Create deep and meaningful relationships with our clients, ensuring their needs are prioritized at all times – whether they’re a startup, scale up, entrepreneur or venture capitalist.
      • Ensure the associates Team is supported to deliver on acquiring new clients and helping existing clients meet their growth goals
      • Provide coaching to enable delivery of the RBC advice promise, matching solutions to client needs
      • Conduct effective sales management routines tailored to bring value to each team member.

What do you need to succeed?

      Must-have

      • Passion for the tech sector: you want to play a role in Canada’s innovation economy.
      • Excitement for trying new things: RBCx is building an end-to-end platform complete with capital and non-capital solutions to help our clients thrive. We will forever be building, launching new products, and expanding our capabilities, and being able to embrace a constant state of improvement and innovation will be paramount.
      • Technical capability: you are comfortable with data modeling and analysis.
      • You are confident leading a team: experience in a leadership, mentoring or coaching role
      • Empathy for the unknown and ever-changing: a tech company needs can change often – and we need you to be comfortable with throwing plans out the window and going back to the drawing board when needed.
      • Some banking experience: at least 1-2 years in commercial lending or business banking

      Nice-to-have

      • You may have been in the trenches before: experience as an entrepreneur, launching a business or working in a start-up.
      • You may have academic exposure through a post-secondary diploma/degree in commerce or business administration, or related experience.
      • This isn’t your first time in a business development role.

      What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

      • We are proud to offer a comprehensive compensation program which includes a competitive salary, bonuses, flexible benefits.
      • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
      • We promise you’ll work in an inclusive, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
      • We have a world-class training program in financial services.
