      We have exciting and unique opportunities available here at Rampton Hospital, just outside Retford.

      Rampton Hospital, part of the Forensic Division within the Trust, is an award-winning hospital, and is one of only three high secure hospitals in England.

      We are the only hospital in the country to provide high secure care to patients who are women, who are deaf or who have Learning Disabilities, alongside our Mental Health and Personality Disorder treatment pathways.

      Rampton Hospital is therefore, a very unique place to work, with patients at the centre of everything we do.

      We are seeking to recruit Ward Managers to join our fantastic team, to provide management and clinical leadership to the allocated ward and to be responsible and accountable for supporting the Service Manager in the delivery of key performance indicators and for the delivery of agreed programmes of development and improvement, ensuring the objectives and targets are achieved

      Main duties of the job

      Rampton Hospital has 22 wards offering comprehensive assessment and recovery focused individualised care and treatment packages for patients who experience a mental health disorder, personality disorder or learning disabilities combined with a history of offending behaviour.

      We are looking for positive, enthusiastic and accomplished leaders to take up this challenging and key position in services across Rampton Hospital. The role may require rotation so hospital wide working is a necessity.

      You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to deliver a challenging agenda, including the management and leadership of a nursing team delivering high quality nursing services.

      You will be part of the clinical governance agenda on issues related to nursing care, in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment. This will require both clinical and leadership knowledge and experience.

      You will be responsible for the development and delivery of safe, secure and effective quality nursing care to a group of patients with complex diagnoses which may include mental illness personality disorder and learning disabilities who are engaged in therapeutic treatment programs at the hospital.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      This post includes participation in the Ward Manager rota, which provides support for the site management, along with working within your ward environment. Therefore you will be required to work a flexible rota system which includes a combination of day and occasionally night shifts, and will include some weekends and bank holidays.

      You will need to be a First Level Registered Nurse in Mental Health or Learning Disabilities and evidence of working in a leadership post is essential. You should have a proven track record of managing, leading and influencing others, and be able to evidence active involvement in developing and delivering service improvements.

      Experience in a secure mental health service is desirable but not essential; however you need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the specific profile and needs of our patient population.

      You will work in close partnership with the Hospital Leadership team in the positive development of all aspects of nursing services, and the full implementation of Policies and Procedures. You will be supported in your professional and personal development through the Trust Appraisal system and be provided with clinical and managerial support to fulfil your role effectively.
