      Job summary

      We are really excited to offer the position of Ward Manager on Whitley Ward.

      Whitley Ward is a 28 bedded cardiology and acute medical ward, that delivers acute care to patients from different medical specialties.

      Due to the the promotion of the current Ward Manager, we are looking for an individual who will continue to lead the team in delivering high standards of care. The successful candidate will be well supported by the Junior Sister and Senior Leadership team and therefore this is a fantastic opportunity for further professional and leadership development.

      Main duties of the job

      The post-holder will work as an expert practitioner and is responsible for thedelivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of the client group on Whitley Ward.

      -The post-holder displays excellent communication and leadership skills, and is responsible for the day-to-day line management of the team for which he/she is responsible.

      -The post holder is responsible for standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well-maintained environment.

      -The Ward Manager is a budget holder and authorised signatory for financial and physical resources.

      -The post holder is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health, safety and security of self and others in the work area. They will identify and assess risks in work activities, and develop strategies to manage these effectively. They will also ensure the team works within risk management and Occupational Health legislation and Trust procedures.

      -The post holder will develop their own skills, taking responsibility for continuing professional development and performance, maintaining own portfolio in accordance with post-registration requirements.
