Job Description

- Work on simple and complex hydrologic, hydraulic, infrastructure and water resources engineering design and analysis.
- Assist Project Managers and Sr. Project Engineers with the collection, management, evaluation, and interpretation of data from the natural and built environment as they relate to water resource and site development projects.
- Design, develop, calibrate, apply and document hydrologic and hydraulic models to analyze river systems, storm water systems, best management practices, force mains, lift stations, dams, levees, bridges, and culverts primarily for water resource, site development, and transportation projects.
- Prepare technical reports for municipalities that summarize analyses and recommendations.
- Prepare design documents and construction drawings for water resource and site development projects.
- Coordinate and assist with the management of water resource, site development, utility design, and storm water management projects.
- Work collaboratively with other TERRA Engineering offices, architects, clients, developers, municipal and county governmental officials on project related work.
- Work with TERRA Engineering executive and management staff to identify and develop water resource and site development business opportunities including stormwater master plans, flood control, watershed management, natural stream restoration, wastewater collection / conveyance, potable water conveyance, and sustainable green and best management practice infrastructure.
- Coordinate with project management teams and other discipline leads to manage project deliverables, ensuring schedule and budget are achieved.
- Assist in proposal preparation including innovative technical approaches and competitive pricing.
- Assist with the preparation of, and be in attendance at, presentations to clients and during project interviews.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- EIT certification with eligibility to obtain PE licensure within 2-years of date of hire. Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) a plus.
- Four plus years of experience in civil or environmental engineering with emphasis on stormwater management, site development, and water resource engineering design and analysis.
- Experience with Hydrologic & Hydraulic modeling using programs such as HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, XP SWMM, ArcGIS, TR-20, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and Excel.
- AutoCAD Civil3D required. Microstation experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with the preparation of stormwater management reports and hydrologic and hydraulic calculations in accordance with federal, state, county, and municipal governmental agencies such as the USACE, IDNR-OWR, IDOT, MWRDGC, DuPage County, Lake County, City of Chicago, etc.
- Experience working on water resource, site development, or transportation projects such as stormwater management plans, stream stabilization, bridge scour, storm sewer sizing, lift stations, force mains, water mains, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in the creation of plans, specifications, engineers estimates of probable construction costs, field reports, construction site observation reports, and punch lists for water resource, site development, or transportation projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, architects, developers, owners, federal, municipal, and local governmental officials.
