      Position Summary/Job Duties:

We’re a warm, friendly family on Madison’s near east side looking for a reliable, engaged weekend babysitter for a consistent 4 hours each week, primarily on Saturday or Sunday.

This role is a great fit for someone who is genuinely looking for a steady, ongoing commitment and values building trust and familiarity with a family over time.

      Schedule

      • Approximately 4 hours every weekend
      • Most often late afternoon, with occasional variation. Flexibility on specific hours can be discussed.
      • We communicate clearly in advance and plan together week by week
      • Consistency matters to us — this position is best for someone who wants weekend hours on a regular basis

      About our kids & home

      • Experience with toddlers is required; experience with early elementary is preferred
      • We value a calm, positive environment that supports independence, curiosity, and connection
      • Our parenting style is influenced by Montessori principles — observing, supporting, and following the child’s lead rather than directing every moment (If Montessori or child-led care excites you, you’ll likely feel very at home here.)
      • We are a mostly screen-free household
        • TV and tablets are not typically used during babysitting time
        • Phones are generally used only for necessities (such as music)
        • This is a hands-on, engaged role for someone who enjoys being fully present with kids
      • We have a very friendly Goldendoodle, so comfort with dogs is important

      Medical & safety needs

      • Comfort learning food allergy and asthma management
      • Willingness to learn emergency protocols and rescue medication administration
      • This role requires someone who is detail-oriented and attentive, as it involves remembering specific food restrictions, allergy-related guidelines, and safety protocols
      • All training will be provided by parents, with clear written instructions and ongoing support. No prior experience managing these medications is required.

Who tends to be a great fit?

We’ve found this role works especially well for people interested in or studying:

      • Early Childhood Education
      • Nursing
      • Occupational Therapy
      • Or related child-focused fields

That said, the most important qualities are reliability, attentiveness, and comfort handling detailed care instructions.

      Details

      • Pay: $22–$25/hour, based on experience
      • Location: Near east side of Madison, close to Breese Stevens Field and Tenney Park
      • Easily accessible by bus — nearby routes include A, B, D, and 28
      • On a major bus line; car and driver’s license are not required
      • Background check and references required
