      Instructional Assistant



      7.25 Hours
      Start Date: As Soon As Possible

      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
      This position supports the students and teachers at Yamhill Carlton Elementary School. This position also has responsibility for monitoring student safety and behavior in various settings, and in working under the supervision of the classroom teachers and Principal to deliver instruction to small groups of students.

      QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
      1. High School Diploma required.
      2. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with the following: e-mail (Gmail), internet software and word processing (MS Word).

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
      1. Prepares instructional materials.
      2. Teaches small groups of elementary students.
      3. Takes and maintains data as needed.
      4. Maintains students' safety and monitors appropriate behavior at recess, in class and during bus loading and unloading.
      5. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
      6. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and customers at all organizational levels
      7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

      LANGUAGE SKILLS:
      Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, staff and parents.

      REASONING ABILITY:
      Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

      OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
      Works well with others. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas; and contributes to building a positive team spirit. Works well in the presence of children.
