Medical Assistant – Full-Time

Location: Recovery Centers of America – 314 Grove Neck Road, Earleville, MD
Pay: $19.00 per hour - $20 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Recovery Centers of America (RCA) is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join our team in Earleville, MD. In this role, you will perform both administrative and clinical duties, supporting licensed personnel in providing exceptional care to patients in a substance use disorder treatment setting.

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting licensed staff in patient care while maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment. This includes collecting medical information, supporting patient examinations, performing clinical tasks under supervision, and ensuring administrative processes run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain health-related information from newly admitted patients.
  • Assist with medical safety searches and monitor unit and patient safety.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, and families.
  • Stock and maintain nursing units with necessary supplies.
  • Provide patient information to licensed nurses to assist in care planning.
  • Report significant changes in patients’ physical or mental condition to licensed personnel.
  • Assist with care per interdisciplinary treatment/recovery plans.
  • Monitor patients on special observation and document behavioral changes.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Collect and label laboratory specimens per policy.
  • Assist licensed nurses with patient/family teaching and orientation of new personnel.
  • Participate in performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Education and Experience

  • Current State CMA certification preferred
  • Minimum of one-year experience working with addiction services preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

**A former patient may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location.
