Job Summary:

Supports providers in delivering efficient and high-quality patient care by performing administrative and clinical functions within a primary care setting. This role focuses on preparing patients for care, ensuring accurate clinical documentation, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and external partners while delivering strong customer service and maintaining positive patient engagement. The position plays a key role in supporting care coordination, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring adherence to established clinical and organizational standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients, obtain medical histories, and confirm the purpose of the visit.
  • Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight.
  • Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
  • Collect, prepare, and process laboratory specimens in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed by providers and in compliance with regulations.
  • Support diagnostic activities, including preparing EKG equipment, performing dressing changes, and removing sutures.
  • Maintain a safe clinical environment by sterilizing instruments and ensuring exam rooms are clean, stocked, and hazard-free.
  • Update and maintain patient health information in electronic medical record systems.
  • Schedule appointments, coordinate admissions, and arrange external diagnostic services.
  • Process insurance claims, verify coverage, and obtain prior authorizations.
  • Answer phones, manage clinic logs, and handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Supports patient care activities by managing time effectively, utilizing resources appropriately, and exemplifying excellence in attention to detail.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of medical assisting experience.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and apply medical information accurately.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Demonstrated customer/member service skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of medical assisting experience.
  • Graduate from a medical assistant program.
  • Medical coding experience.
