We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Assistant at Shore Gastroenterology in Oakhurst, NJ.

About the Role:

The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen collection. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing medical instruments and managing specimen processing. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with nurse practitioners and other healthcare staff. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
• Assist healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, during medical examinations and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples following proper protocols and safety standards.
• Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing.
• Sterilize medical instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment to prevent infection.
• Manage patient scheduling, answer phones, and handle administrative tasks to support clinic operations.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Skills:

The required skills such as Medical Assisting, phlebotomy, and specimen processing are essential for performing clinical duties accurately and safely on a daily basis. Proficiency with medical instruments and sterilization ensures that all equipment is properly maintained to prevent infection and support patient safety. Drawing blood and taking vital signs are routine tasks that require precision and attention to detail to provide reliable data for diagnosis and treatment. Answering phones and coordinating with nurse practitioners demand strong communication skills and professionalism to facilitate smooth patient flow and effective teamwork. Preferred skills like familiarity with electronic health records and additional certifications enhance the Medical Assistant's ability to adapt to evolving healthcare technologies and emergency situations, contributing to overall operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in a healthcare or clinical setting as a Medical Assistant.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
