Nursing Station Technician - Float Pool

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician on the Float Pool at Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN.

Schedule: This role is a .6 FTE (48 hours every 2 weeks) working 8-hour evening shifts, with every other weekend rotation. Variable weekday schedule.

Responsibilities:

The Nursing Station Technician position is responsible for assisting with patient care, performing receptionist duties on the station, and maintaining patient care areas.

• Facilitates room turnover
• Direct Patient Care Responsibilities
• Maintains unit supplies
• Coordinates activities of nursing station to support patient care staff
• Manages medical record flow and patient care charts
• Provides excellent customer service
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology, communication skills, computer proficiency.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
• AND one or more of the following:
• Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• Or
• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
• Or
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
• Or
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a health unit coordinator program or equivalent experience
