About the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission:

The general purposes of the Alcohol & Tobacco Commission's work, as defined by law, are:

• To protect the economic welfare, health, peace and morals of the people of this state.
• To regulate and limit the manufacture, sale, possession, and use of alcohol and alcoholic beverages.
• To provide for the raising of revenue.

Role Overview:

This role is responsible for processing and disposing of all temporary and event permits, coordinating enforcement efforts with district excise departments, managing permit-related complaints, and providing expert guidance to ATC leadership. The administrative assistant exercises discretion within governing laws to determine appropriate permit outcomes, coordinates stakeholders involved in applicant eligibility and enforcement, and helps develop procedures to address recurring or complex permitting issues. The role also supports implementation of new requirements resulting from changes in law.

Beyond administering the permit program, the incumbent will maintain the agency’s appointment scheduler and internal comment box, independently implementing recommended changes based on feedback received.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Compile information relative to the assigned program area.
• Coordinate correspondence for information requests.
• Organize and maintain current and historical files related to the program.
• Organize program reports, applications, and maintain consultative services.
• Maintain and organize program assets.
• Prepare all program related training materials.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

• General knowledge of the program area.
• Basic knowledge of the rules and regulations pertaining to the assigned program area and its affects upon other agency operations.
• Ability to gather and compile program materials.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process.
• Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
