Secretary

SUMMARY: The Unit & Scheduling Coordinator/Telemetry Technician is responsible for providing continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring while coordinating administrative, clerical, communication, and scheduling functions that support patient care operations. This position serves as a central communication hub for the nursing unit and cardiovascular service line, monitoring cardiac rhythms, maintaining patient records, coordinating admissions and transfers, scheduling procedures and diagnostic testing, and facilitating communication among patients, physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, and families. The Telemetry Technician / Scheduler / Unit Coordinator promotes safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care through accurate cardiac monitoring, effective communication, and exceptional organizational support.

BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Dynamic Health and Healthstream Policy Manager.

Required to work with the Director regularly to carry out, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health ARU Department/Service Line.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent or minimum score of Bronze on the Career Readiness Certificate (“CRC”).
• Completion of a telemetry, cardiac monitoring, EKG technician, medical secretary, healthcare administration, or related program preferred

Experience:

• Previous telemetry monitoring, EKG technician, unit secretary, scheduling, registration, or healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in a hospital, telemetry, critical care, cardiovascular, or procedural services setting preferred.

Other:

• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, telemetry monitoring, and arrhythmia recognition.
• Ability to accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and recognize significant abnormalities.
• Knowledge of hospital operations, medical terminology, patient flow processes, and healthcare documentation requirements.
• Proficiency with telemetry monitoring systems, electronic health records, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in urgent situations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Potential for work on rotating shifts. Holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. You may be asked to work longer hours and assignments may change during your shift. Floating to other areas is occasionally required based on hospital needs.
